Stillness

This weekend I decided to focus on my photography. Being that I always shoot in movement, it was nice to be still and have complete attention drawn towards each frame.

The entire collection of Nature shots is located here: https://ashley-luke.squarespace.com/floridas-habitat/

Why I love spending time alone

Many people are just discovering the joys of spending time alone for part of their lives; in this day and age, most of us will experience it, and possibly for long stretches. If solo time is seen as simply a time to “get through” while you’re waiting for a spouse, children or friends to show up, you are wasting years of your life.

Remarks from Freddie Gray Funeral

Historical times we live in at the present moment. I was moved by the remarks made by Freddie Gray's Family Attorney, William H. Billy Murphy, Rev. Jamal H. Bryant and Congressman Elijah E. Cummings yesterday during the funeral service.

"I've often said that our children are the living messages we send to a future we will never see. But now our children are sending us to a future they will never see. There's something wrong with that picture." -Elijah E. Cummings

Filming with Florida Institute of Technology's Ocean Engineering Program

Traveled the Melbourne Causeway with a group of graduate students filming their search for the missing Bluefin Automous Underwater Vehicle lost 8 months ago in these waters. Accidentally programmed incorrectly for a navigation, the AUV dove in the channel eight months ago.  The AUV was donated to the Ocean Engineering Program by the Navy for educational research. Students now spend every Thursday covering the water with their Sidescan Sonar to detect the object on a portable computer screen. Video coming soon.

Random Act of Kindness

Someone really touch me by giving me two coconuts today. It's humbling to see how complete strangers can do something without looking for recognition. There are still good people in this world!

The sound of just the waves

I found a new reading spot. I went too late today after the sunset and found this pocket of a beach in Fort Pierce. Too bad it was getting dark because I would have stayed longer.

I could be a storm chaser

Storm coming through Vero Beach earlier today. You have to be so careful driving because you may be in the eye of it at anytime where you literally can't see anything. Fortunately, it's only happened a couple of times since moving here.

CA drought

The thing of nature is it doesn't play favorites with one half of the world over another. CA's drought is major; however, this is what we are doing to the Earth. Excessively abusing every inch of it. From over flooding to mega droughts sad to say that this has plagued so many regions around the world and yet we turn a blind eye to it because it doesn't favor our well being and lifestyle. Hunger is real and so will soon be the thrist for water.

Latest readings

Finished this read while on my trip back to Cali last month. Overall, it was a good reminder to be PRESENT in life. In addition to this book, I've started The Motivation Manifesto by Brendon Burchard.
